Green BuildingGreen Building refers to a structure using a process that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life cycle: design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. It expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort.
The green building industry is mainly guided by national and local certifications that help ensure that a structure has achieved a pre-established set of standards that have a proven record of improving all aspects of a building. The most common and well know is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), which was created by USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Today there are many other certifications helping both contractors and homeowners achieve Green Buildings. Yet all the green building is only achievable because of a growing number of people specializing in it. LEED AP’s (LEED Accredited Professionals) are a perfect example of this.
As more contractors and homeowners are looking into the green building, it may sometimes require an extra effort from both parties to achieve “greening” a structure. At EcodeOnline.com we are committed in building a reliable data base of green contractors to help project owners find the necessary people for the green job.
